Today, the word “radicalization” is consistently applied to Muslim and Jihadist terrorist organizations. START researchers Donatella Della Porta and Gary LaFree, quoted for their definition of radicalization in this article, offer an explanation for this, stating that radicalization began applying more to groups where violence was exercised, especially militant Islamic groups, as scholars were increasingly worried about the youth who joined these organizations.
