Preventing and Treating Radicalization: A Two Volume Review

Abstract:

In this book review, Dr. Arie W. Kruglanski discusses two recent volumes published by Imperial College Press: "Resilience and resolve: Communities Against Extremism" edited by Jolene Jerard and Solim Mohamed Nasir, and "Terrorist Rehabilitation: A New Frontier in Counter-terrorism" edited by Rohan Gunaratna and Mohammad bin Ali. Both volumes cover "the plague of extremism" and how it threatens civilized societies the world over. Dr. Kruglanski also discusses the difference between extremists and extremism and using tools such as community engagement, religious harmony, forgiveness and reconciliation in the counter-radicalization effort.
