On Friday, July 17 at 11:30 am, Gary Ackerman, Director of START's Unconventional Weapons and Technology division, will give a lecture titled "An Introduction to Risk Assessment" at START headquarters. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are appreciated.

In his role of Director of the UWT division, Dr. Ackerman manages large research projects, explores new avenues for research and establishes collaborative research relationships at START. Prior to holding this position, Dr. Ackerman served as the Director of the Center for Terrorism and Intelligence Studies , a private research and analysis institute, Director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism Research Program at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey, California, and chief of operations of the South Africa-based African-Asian Society. He holds a Ph.D. in War Studies from King's College in London, in addition to degrees from Yale University and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
