Crumpton served as the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of State from August 2005 until February 2007. Working directly for the Secretary of State, Ambassador Crumpton developed, coordinated, and implemented U.S. counterterrorism policy. He arrived at the State Department following a 24 year career in the Central Intelligence Agency, including assignments to the Federal Bureau of Investigation as Deputy Chief of the International Terrorism Operations Section and as Deputy Chief (Operations) of the CIA?s Counterterrorism Center, 1999-2001. He led the CIA's Afghanistan campaign, 2001-2002, and his achievements have been portrayed in such books as Bush at War, American Soldier, First In, Jawbreaker, and At the Center of the Storm. Ambassador Crumpton is a member of the START Advisory Board. Riggs Alumni Center is located on the University of Maryland campus, and parking will be available at the Stadium Parking Garage, adjacent to Riggs.
