Former START intern Annabell Knapp receives internship excellence award

Former START intern Annabell Knapp has received the Showker Award for Internship Excellence from Bridgewater College.

Knapp, who is in her senior year as a History & Political Science and Global Studies double major at Bridgewater College, interned on the State Department/START project last semester and is currently interning with On Earth Peace as their Palestine Justice Organizer.

“My time at START was wonderful,” Knapp said. “Not only was I able to gain experience in a field I am passionate about, but I was also able to see effective leadership in action from those at START and from those at State. It was an amazing and challenging experience that allowed me to grow and improve on various skills.”

START Experiential Education Specialist Eva Coll praised Knapp’s efforts while at START.

“Annabell was always enthusiastic about the work she and her teammates were undertaking, and she was committed to creating a project that would satisfy the clients at the State Department,” Coll said. “Her ability to leverage her strong research and written skills from her undergraduate work made her a valuable member of the team.”

Sponsored by the Zane D. Showker Institute for Responsible Leadership, the Showker Award recognizes the leadership development of Bridgewater College students. It encourages the acknowledgment of leadership in supervisors and the connection of the internship experience to the liberal arts education at Bridgewater College.
