Terrorism and Targeted Violence (T2V) in the United States: Overview of 2023-2025 Data
According to the Terrorism and Targeted Violence (T2V) in the United States database, there were 2,976 terrorism and targeted violence crimes that were committed in the United States from January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2025. 781 (26.2%) of these events resulted in victim casualties. These attacks resulted in 491 victim deaths and 1,231 victim injuries. This new research brief explores the types of events, locations, targets, weapon types, ages of perpetrators, and outcomes of the events. These data points are critical in understanding the threat landscape, mobilization indicators, and outcomes. Forming strategy with empirical-based evidence is crucial in preventing violence.

Researcher Spotlight: Carlos Rafael Colon
START Faculty Research Assistant Carlos Rafael Colon joined the Global Terrorism Database team in 2021 and now works on the Terrorism and Targeted Violence (T2V) project, where he built the Data Management System and evaluated AI-driven efficiencies across the data workflow. He shares what he’s currently working on, the research gaps he’s addressing, and how he hopes his efforts will make political violence datasets more accurate, timely, and useful for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
