START asks donors to #STARTgiving for UMD Giving Day 2021

On Wednesday, March 3, START will participate in Giving Day, the University of Maryland (UMD)’s annual 24-hour fundraising event. The goal of the event is to raise critical funding for the university by engaging the UMD community and beyond.

START’s focus this year is on raising funds to help provide experiential education opportunities for students that include research internships, participatory online courses and professional mentoring.

“This has been such a challenging year for students, but I am very proud of how well our team transitioned to teaching and mentoring online, and how resilient and engaged our students have remained,” START Director William Braniff said. “We are committed to continuing to invest in students, and are grateful to those who help make that possible through their generosity. Inspiring and educating students is the most important thing we do.”

Various prizes will be awarded to the units at UMD who solicit the largest number of donations in several areas, including most alumni donors, most faculty and staff donors, most parent donors, most student donors and the top fundraisers in general.
