An online information session will be held for START's Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Security and Terrorism Studies, Graduate Certificate in Terrorism Analysis, and Graduate Certificate in Insider Risk Management and Mitigation at 6 p.m. ET on December 2, 2024. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
The MPS in Security and Terrorism Studies prepares students to examine the complex social, political, economic, and psychological underpinnings of terrorist and other asymmetric security threats. Students are exposed to the theoretical and methodological skills necessary to pursue advanced research opportunities, or be successful in a professional role where analysis and critical thinking are paramount. The program is appropriate for individuals interested in (and/or currently) working in fields related to intelligence analysis, national security analysis, or analysis of other relevant topic areas, and individuals interested in (and/or currently) conducting scholarly research on terrorism and security.
The Graduate Certificate in Terrorism Analysis and the Graduate Certificate in Insider Risk Management and Mitigation are both 12 credit (4 course) series that can be completed in one academic year. Each certificate is designed to look more closely at specific aspects of terrorism and security. More information will be provided about both programs during the session.
All three graduate programs are entirely online with courses delivered in a synchronous format via Zoom in the evenings from 6-8:30pm ET. Each course is offered one night each week between Monday and Thursday. The programs run on a semester calendar.
If you cannot register through Zoom, please reach out to the START Education team at education-start@umd.edu for assistance.
