START Welcomes New Advisory Board Member

START announces the newest member of the Advisory Board, Professor Alex P. Schmid. Dr. Schmid holds a chair in International Relations at the University of St. Andrews, where he is Director of the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV).

As an author and an editor, Schmid has contributed to more than 150 reports and publications including 'Political Terrorism'. His prior positions include being an Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations' Terrorism Prevention Branch, a Synthesis Chair on Conflict Resolution at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and Research Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Research Programme on Causes of Human Rights Violations (PIOOM). His insight and advice is a valuable resource for the START consortium.
