Dr. Sin is an Assistant Research Scientist and the Director of the Unconventional Weapons and Technology Division (UWT) of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). He develops, leads, and manages interdisciplinary research projects spanning across a broad range of national and homeland security challenges. Dr. Sin’s expertise includes countering weapons of mass destruction; operations in the information environment; asymmetric threat / irregular warfare; and Northeast Asia regional security. Prior to joining START, Dr. Sin served as a senior research associate and section chief with the National Center for Security & Preparedness (NCSP), a strategic partner of the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services (NYS DHSES). Dr. Sin’s extensive experience also include a career as a U.S. Army Officer. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and is multilingual in Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese.
